Frequently asked
Stockholm3 is a blood test developed at the Karolinska Institute that combines five protein biomarkers, 101 genetic markers, and your clinical data into an AI-powered risk score for clinically significant prostate cancer. It’s far more accurate than PSA alone, reducing unnecessary biopsies by up to 52%.1
The NHS does not currently offer a routine prostate cancer screening programme, and Stockholm3 is not yet available through the NHS. At AtWell, you can self-refer for Stockholm3 and other advanced screenings without waiting for a GP referral. Results are typically available within two weeks.
Men aged 45–74 who haven’t been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It’s particularly valuable if you have a family history of prostate cancer, are of African or African-Caribbean ancestry, or have had a borderline PSA result.
No. All our cancer screenings are available as self-referral. You can book directly online or by calling 01676 545 111. Every result is reviewed by an AtWell GP before being shared with you.
Most blood-based screening results are available within 5–10 working days. Stockholm3 results typically take up to two weeks as samples are processed by TDL Pathology. You’ll receive a call from your GP to discuss your results.
Your AtWell GP will discuss the result with you in detail and arrange an onward referral — either to an NHS consultant or a private specialist, depending on your preference. We support you throughout the process.
